Current State of Practice for the Design & Construction of Containment Liner Systems
NOVEMBER 8 – 9
Richard Thiel, PE will present a two-day course that reflects his 35 years of practice engaged in the permitting, design, and construction observation of landfills, heap leach pad, reservoirs, lined concrete tanks, and secondary containment facilities for tank farms. Presentations include Q&A discussions.
The curriculum assumes that attendees already have some experience and familiarity with the materials, functions, and construction/installation of containment liner systems. A preliminary course outline, subject to change, is presented below.
DAY 1
- Important aspects of containment liner design
- Types of leakage and typical acceptable leakage rates for different types of containment systems
- General design and construction considerations of liner system elements (subgrade, clay liners, geosynthetics, drainage layers and pipes)
- Typical final cover system configurations and design issues
- Concrete tank liners
DAY 2
- Slope stability
- Reservoir and pond design considerations
- Tank farm containment liners, penetrations, and batten bar details
- Reliability (probability of failure) considerations
PRICING: USD $800.
Government Rate: PLEASE CONTACT the organizer for registration code.
ABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR
